Looking at a potential purchase, but the aircon is not great. It is still blowing cool air, but not very cold.

Pump appears to be cutting in an out, so I'm thinking it's low on gas, which is fine with a re charge, but the gas must be escaping from somewhere.

Any one got any ideas, and what costs may be so I can use them as a bargaining tool.

Thanks

Had this problem with my recently purchased e430 turned out to be leaking from the air con condenser pretty common apparently, not a huge job done in a couple of hours by a mobile specialist and charged me about £270 I think all in but will confirm this tommorrow when I find the paperwork, the air con is now nice and chilly. Hope this helps

The condensor is the usual culprit for leaks. MB part is quite pricey but Euro do pattern parts for just over £100.

Leaks through the rubber hose wall and this is normal with vehicle a/c so might not be due to knackered condenser.

Found the invoice it was £239 for the condensor fitted pressure tested and then regassed, oh and you won't be dissapointed if you buy the car I love mine just waft about all day long, just check for rust i.e arches, bootlid lock, underneath cross members, upper suspension mounts, basically everywhere you can see.

Excellent. Thanks guys. Will keep you posted if I buy.

Seen a few already (not all 430's) but too much rust for my liking.
