Good M-B independent in Newcastle/ Whitley Bay

I have to visit an elderly relative this week and would like to get his 98 sl320 serviced. Anyone able to recommend someone in the Newcastle / Whitley Bay area? I will be driving up from London later this week

Phil Baister at Staithes Garage, Dunston, is just about the only Mercedes specialist in the area. He is very knowledgable. I have never come across anyone as good with Mercedes as him. He is also cheap: too cheap, really! However, he is also hopelessly slow and never finishes all of the jobs on the list...

Otherwise Paul Smith at MB Newcastle is excellent.

+1 for Phil at Staithes, I have never found him slow or not finish a job, but you do need to book in well in advance as he is very busy.
