I am in Nantwich Cheshire and no the car is not for sale at present.
The Exhaust cost £1900 and more than worth the investment!!
The aim is to hit 200mph at the next VMax.biggrin

It has the Kleemann ecu upgrade on the engine and gearbox plus the kleemann
LSD. Car weighs 2000 kilos on Car planet scales.
I am considering DMS's lowering kit.

924lb ft torque???????yikesyikes

Didn't Merc have to wind back the torque on these to around 750lbs ft in order to protect the gearbox?

That is true but of course they build in a large safety margin. Driving sympathetically and only using full power in the right conditions it shouldnt be a problem.
Oh, and it is quick.yikes

My sl55 was fitted 2 years ago with the DMS lowering kit, no problems related to the modification thus far .

Can you supply the product name of the exhaust please ?

CarPlanetRacing fit this as a Bespoke unit with your choice of cats and noise level. Call Lawrence or Max on 01925 414199.
Has life guarantee as well.

Great car Mark,

Vmax shouldn't be a problem, Autocar got 200 out of a de-restricted SL55 in 2002(and you've almost 50% more power). IIRC it wiped the floor accelerating from 0-186mph against a 996 Turbo, 550 Maranello, Aston Martin Vanquish and the Murcielago.

I'd vote to keep the sleeper (relative) look.

Nice.....

Ah yes; Autocar did this at Nardo southern Italy where you have as many miles you like round the 7.9 mile track to build up speed. The SL55 was a Merc development car and would have needed near 700bhp to hit 186mph in 32.5 sec.
At Bruntingthorpe you have 1.5-1.6 miles only. With a tail wind I should do it.

Thanks for the insight Mark, I was surprised at the walloping given to all the established stars. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised at a 'warmed over' press car.
And you're right Nardo is a completely different proposition to a 1.5mile straight.

Good luck with hitting the 200!

Mark, not to take the thread too much O/T but where did you hear it was a development car ?

I just had a debate on the 996GT2 RS thread in the Gen Gassing section about exactly this, arguing that no way in hell coulda 479hp 2tonne SL55 hit 300kmh in low 30's & that SL55 used in that test was a ringer !!
