Could one of the owners of a previous generation S or CL take a picture of both the driver and passenger door mirrors and post them up please?! It is the glass and it's frame (if there is one) that I am interested in smile

Strange request I know but I've noticed that my driver door mirror looks damaged inside the glass and it of different design to the passenger door mirror - one is framed and one is not.

I don't remember seeing the damage before or noticing the difference in design and I have this strange nagging feeling some git has swapped theirs for mine! No idea how much new ones are but I bet they aren't cheap.

Many thanks in advance! biggrin

Do you have autodip rear view mirror?

The frame around the drivers mirror is because that is autodip or it is on my ML anyway.

Yes this is correct they are different, drivers side framed and passenger not.
Not sure what you mean by 'damaged inside the glass'?

Mark.

Many thanks for the replies. Yes, it is auto-dimming (I found this out a short time ago).

It turns out the damage I can see is due to the liquid crystal draining from between the two layers of glass (the auto-dimming bit). It's still useable as only appears at the top of the mirror so I'll be waiting until it gets much worse, which is usually when it gains an oily yellow/brown tint. £300 for a new mirror unit ....

£300 eek

Maybe change it to non auto dimming. There are a few on eBay for the E class and ML but no S or CL class at the moment they go for around £75. I have two cars with this feature so I am getting the bubble wrap out for both of em. What a stupid amount of money for some mirror glass.

Non-dimming is £50 from the dealer but I think I'll wait until the thing is completely knackered! biggrin
