I've had my C32 for 3½ years now so am probably well equipped to advise. There are lots of expensive parts on this car, but don't let that put you off. You can find a list of known issues on the mbworld forum in the C32/C55 section but common known faults include:
1. Seat control modules - these tend to go faulty and keep the car in "awake" mode. In Awake mode the car draws near 2 amps and drains the battery flat in 2 days, but you have no way of knowing this has went faulty until you get a flat battery. Both of mine, drivers and passengers, have went faulty. New units £230 each or a repair at £130 each.
2. Suspension, known issues with bushes on arms, and on anti roll bars. I have an Alfa 156 as well and the suspension on these isn't great but the C32 ain't that much better. Again not an issue when it's performing.
3. Heat exchanger between transmission fluid and engine coolant can fail causing engine coolant to leak into the AMG gearbox. Get it checked and if it looks corroded, change it, it's much cheaper than a new gearbox (no change out of £4k I'd guess).
4. Only other thing mine needed was a crank position sensor, around £240 supplied and fitted.
5. Thirsty but no more so than other 3 litre cars. And spark plugs ain't cheap, but last 6 yrs.
But on the plus side these engines can be easily upgraded if that's what you want. Plus the car is fantastic for driving, ultra comfortable for a 350hp sports car.
Mine will be up for sale in a months time, as my wife is pregnant with our 3rd kid so I need something bigger. I'm getting the wheels refurbed first. Mine has only got 57,000miles on it but it will be more than £5k, closer to £9k.
Incidentally, there is something not quite right with the AMG badge on the bootlid, the letters are spaced too far apart. Worth asking about if you choose to enquire.
