Hi all, hows things? I am looking to replace my old car with something decent. There are two main contenders at the moment, my wife likes the VW Passat TDI 130 sports, and I like he Merc E class CDI's

I have around 10-11k to spend, and i have seen a few E class diesels. The 220 CDI's are newer than say a 300/320 CDI for the same cash.

Can anyone give me advice on which one is best, what they are like as regards comparable performance in real terms, and fuel consumption.

Is there any worries as to purchasing one of these beasts with say 100k on the clock??

Any information would be great cheers

On my 3rd E Class estate in 320cdi form and I can say this... they are the best cars I have ever owned, 35-40mpg, powerful when you need it, very capable cruiser, 6 cylinder (I found the 4 cyl models to be a bit under powered for me) roomy, and as for 100k, well they are just run in.

My dads E320cdi is one amazing car. For diesel it feels awesome.
