Have been looking for a newish C220 / C250 estate and initially thought I wanted a car with Command but having sat in a couple now I think the big popup screen looks a bit of an afterthought and would annoy me. I beging to think I prefer the UMI add on that uses the existing smaller screen.

The UMI is however seems mighty expensive for what it does. A Merc dealer told me that the UMI gives all the functionality of Command but reviews on the web suggest otherwise. With Command is it possible to use the radio and nav functions via the centre consol arrows with the screen stowed ? have tried asking two dealers but have not got a straight reply on that one yet.

It seems the UMI kit can be fitted to any Sport or Elegance model but it must be done by the dealer as an access code for the display is required. Being a cynic I do wonder if the nav functions are already in every car and just enabled when you pay up.

UMI is good, it can be fitted to any '204' C class with the 8 button multi-finction steering wheel, (I belive, correct me if I'm wrong).

IMO, if I had the choice COMMAND is better.
