Storing 1984 sl without garage ?
Discussion
A car is usually going to be better off in a garage than outside (not if it is garaged when wet). However, there is no reason why you should not be able adequately to preserve a 280 SL and still keep it out. More important than a garage is the general care you take over the car. The best thing for the car is to use it frequently for long journeys. Next, clean it, being especially careful to do so when salt is in use on the roads. Clean the inside of the wheelarch lip in particular. The paintwork is extremely durable and high quality, much more so than modern paints: at the end of summer, give it a very thorough treatment with polish, wax and sealant. And if you have the undercarriage professionally waxoyled (or Dinitrol or whatever you prefer) you will vastly increase its longevity.
