w212 E-Class suspension
Discussion
I am considering a new E350 CDI Estate in Avantgarge trim (I know, I know, I hate the new cars but I am quite impressed with this one). The standard sports suspension is far too stiff and knobbly for my liking. Tell me, is the no-cost option comfort suspension a big improvement or will I need to get the (quite expensive) Airmatic set up? I'm going to do my best to test drive them but it may not be possible to do so. Objective advice would be most welcome.
Next question. Do you think I can realistically expect this car to last 15 years and 350,000miles?

I am big fan of the airmatic on my 211. It basically allows you swap between elegance/avantgarde/sport at will. (the settings are compfort/sport/sport II).
I live in London and for local low speed pootling usually select comfort. Nice and wafty. As soon as the road opens up and/or potholes and speedbumps recede I'm into sport or sport II.
The downsides are (on the 211 anyway)that it can get caught out by sudden shocks (eg expansion joints) where an Elegance would sail on without even registering. But then you can't crank an Elegance up to Sport II at will....
It's expensive when it goes wrong but mine is perfect at 96k.
211's have a good rep for interstellar mileages and the 212's seem a bit better built so I'm sure the same will apply.
