I have a 2004 SLK 350 with the 'rocker' style gear changes on the steering wheel. The wheel is wood effect and I'm not getting on with it. I want to upgrade to a leather version.

Does anyone know if this would be compatible.

It has paddles rather than 'rocker' switches.

The airbag and front switches look the same as mine...

Cheers

You could always try dctms.com for a custom wheel. I had one made for a CLK I owned...

That would be great, but I am in merc warranty so can only add genuine merc parts.

I reckon you have the upgrade.

May be wrong but the leather wheel/the one in your pic is standard but to have wood was an option.

How are you not getting on with it, does it make the car go left and right? IMHO i prefer the wood wheels there like a £££ extra and i like the feel!

The SLK just looks a bit wrong with the wood trim and the wheel doesn't feel quite right. It is freezing in winter and I reckon will be slippery in summer. It is an expensive option but when I bought the car (just before christmas) I always expected to change at least the wheel.

I called MB and they want £1400 for the same part as is on ebay for £200!!

To change the other wood trim bits on the dash to aluminium would be ~ £500.

PS. If anyone fancies a swap let me know :-)
