Can't be robbed for £600. Especially if he took £500. Even if it is a bit leggy. You're right about the door, but photos are pretty useless for judging paint quality. Smoke silver is a classic colour on the 190 and this one looks to have the medium red interior with rear head rests, an excellent combination. Not too far from me...

Here's another: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2587642.htm

What is it about these Scots? They're not very keen on detail, are they?

And this has always appealed to me: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2304324.htm slotting the 3.0litre motor in place of the 2.6, giving 188bhp instead of 166bhp, an useful uplift in a car weighing less than 1,300kg. I especially like the badging. I suppose it would be better to put the 3.0l 24valve motor there, giving a 190 E 3.0-24 with 230bhp!

Yeah Rob Parker, he's a Mercedes breaker. And I do like that car, that engine made the W124 brisk, so it must be a belter in the 190e chassis!

Having spent the last hour or so looking into it, I rather like the idea of getting a leggy 190E 2.6 and slotting in the 3.0-24valve motor from either a w124 300 E-24 or a r129 300 SL-24. I suspect that would be do-able without mega skills and would give a pretty peppy little car. One of these budget 190s would provide the car and there is a motor with 78k miles on Ebay right now...
