Hi Guys

My first post on the Mercedes forum, having swapped out the Tuscan today for a 2002 SL55 AMG. Looking forward to picking her up later this evening! The car currently has 18" wheels, and I'm starting to look into 19" options. Any advice in terms of fitment, style, ride quality impact, best place for second hand options, any members with available wheels etc etc - all comments welcome!

This is an excellent resource regarding genuine wheels

http://www.alloywheelsdirect.net/mercedes_alloy_wh...

I look from time to time on eBay and as yet have not found any with the correct fitment for the SL

I`ve a set, with part worn Pilot Sport tyres. These are genuine AMG , rears are 10 inch. Check my profile to see them on my SL.As I sold the car with the original turbine wheels my plan is to re-furbish the 19 `s and sell them.

Let me know what you want for them.

And a price for me please! Can you also tell me what tyre size you have on both front and rear?

I have contacted Pristine wheels , quoted price for refurbishment is £160 + vat, per wheel. This includes carriage.

I am assured the finish will be superior to that of the original. With this in mind I think the fairest solution would be to auction the wheels after refurbishment at a well known auction website.

Ok thanks mikial...

They do look rather nice in your pic, so perhaps you can let me know when they go up for auction.

Will do with pleasure.

Rear tyres are Pilot Sport 285-30-19 98Y with between 3-4 mm tread depth remaining.

Fronts are Pilot Sport 255-35-19 with between 5-6 mm depth of tread remaining.

No side wall damage or repairs.

Can you tell me, is your SL also lowered slightly in your profile pic?

I don't care how good they are, that's an outrageous price for wheel refurb.

I quite agree, therefore have decided to auction them as they stand.

Swapped from a TVR!? mad man... I'm holding onto my Tamora until it melts.

I think you will get bored if you like to drive you Tuscan to its limits (despite being a big AMG and Merc fan).

Yeah, was a big decision. Had the Tuscan for 6 years which was a great experience, and one which will live with me forever. I just felt that not getting any younger, the AMG was a great balance of comfort when desired, but still lots of fun when you want it. So far I'm very impressed.

Not yet, will keep you posted, I have a total of six wheels, 3 fronts and 3 rears , the rears are all 10 X 19 with the correct offset for the SL 55 .

Just thinking of the best way to to offer them, ie , all six in one auction or one lot of 4 ( 2 fronts & 2 rears ) and the other two wheels independently.

Speaking personally, I would only be interested in a set of 4, but understand your predicament.

I have a full set of the SL65 AMG wheels too inclusing tyres all 1/2 worn.

I'll be getting them fully refurbished next week and looking for £2500 for the set. These are NOT replicas or any other crap. OEM and they have the graphite centers!

Chris.
