Please excuse the thread title, it happened partly by accident
Are there any members of the Fiat Coupe club here:
http://fccuk.org/
I'm looking at getting a Fiat Coupe as a sensible, practical car (
) so I can retire my ageing MX-5 to weekend status. After intensive research over the weekend the common concensus is to get registered on the FCCUK forum to get the best info.
However, I've tried registering twice and I keep being denied due to "security" reasons and I've no idea why.
I've emailed the administrators but haven't heard anything back yet, so I was wondering if there are any fccuk members on here that might be able to help me out?
Ta.

Advice # 1: go directly to the Forum
Make sure your homepage is NOT set to www.fccuk.org. Close all your browser windows. Re-open your browser. Go DIRECTLY to the forum: www.fccuk.org/forum (so do NOT go through the main www.fccuk.org) and try to log in.
If this doesn't help, follow advice # 2.
Advice # 2: resetting your browser (IE7, but others are the same or similar)
I have personally been able to fix any log in problems I've been faced with by doing this. It will reset all your browser settings.
1/ In your browser's menu, go to "tools" > "internet options".
2/ In the popup window, under the "general" tab, set the homepage to NOT be www.fccuk.org
3/ Under "Browsing history", click the "delete..." button and use the button to "Delete all..." in the resulting window. Choose to "also delete files and settings stored by add-ons" if it comes up with that question. NOTE!! Your browser will forget ALL usernames and passwords for sites you visit (Forums, online banking,...). But it is only logic that you remember all these or have a safe place where you keep record of them... If not, you're not really well organised are you?
4/ Under the tab "Security", set the "security level" to "Medium-High". If it is already set to that, set it to a LOWER level, click "apply", and THEN set it to medium-high again. Click apply again. Now also click the 'custom level...' button and in the resulting window click "reset" and confirm that selection.
Click "ok" to return to the window showing the "security" tab.
5/ Under the tab "Privacy", click "advanced". Check "override automatic cookie handling", set both first-part and third-party cookies to be "accepted" and check "always allow session cookies".
Click "ok" to return to the window showing the "privacy" tab.
6/ Under the tab "advanced", click the button "restore advanced settings". Click ok. Also click the "reset..." button. Click ok.
Click "apply" and "ok" in the main window showing the "advanced" tab.
Now, CLOSE your browser window and restart the browser.
Go directly to www.fccuk.org/forum and log in.
If you still can't log in, CONTACT ONE OF THE ADMINISTRATORS of this site (Stan, Kayjey,...) to check your account. We will forward some additional instructions to you and set your password to something different in case you are trying to use a wrong password / login.

You may want to have a chit chat with these guys as well.....

...the 2.5 conversion is probably the best engine enhancement for the 20VT and with up to 600bhp to play with in one of the best handling front wheel drive platforms ever made (in my opinion) the Coupe' can be a very wise choice.

I'm not looking to replace the MX-5 but she's getting a bit long in the tooth now and little things are starting to go wrong e.g. the passenger window is bust, the cigarette lighter stopped working, leaking cam-cover gasket blah. Nothing major but perhaps the beginning of things to come.
Our second car is currently a Fourtrak which is a superb workhorse and offers boot space when needed, but that's sadly succumbed to rust and has just gone up on ebay for spares/repair
So I thought maybe it was an opportunity to retire the MX-5 to weekend fun car status rather than daily drive, and get something practical for the commute. However, I found it incredibly difficult and the choice of cars got a bit depressing.
I was leaning towards an Alfa 147 but, determined not to start a "what car" thread, I decided to go through every single type of car on the classifieds here to get some insipration.
I got as far as the Fiat Coupe and remembered how passionately I'd seen owners talk about them in the past, so I decided to do a bit of digging. I quite fancy something with a nice interior (never had a car with a nice interior
), and the Coupe's certainly offer that, but I was surprised to see it could get MPG in the 30s so there would be no real difference to my current fuel costs.
When I saw how rapid they are I stopped looking through the classifieds
So basically, I was looking for a practical, reliable car to go to work and I've ended up looking at something significantly less reliable than my current car.
I do quite fancy the 20vt for the engine noise and performance, but also the impression I have so far is that the newer you buy, the better the Coupe.
LK, it seems the car barely holds itself together with the power it's got! If the Mx-5 is a weekend car, that'll be the one to receive any tuning. I've been meaning to turbocharge it for years...

I too have spent ages on multiple days trying to get into that site....I have registered and re-registered with different email addresses names and passwords - blocked every flippin time
contacted them - they sent pages of instructions incl suggesting i delete all passwords etc for all sites I visit - or apparently i am disorganised...! - Well actually, perhaps it would be better if they sort out their log in gremlins?!
Really frustrated, as i too am looking to research mods and buying Coupe Turbo..
Sites such as PH (organised!)simply remember log in details

I've owned four Coupe's the 16V N/A, 20VT and two 16V Turbo's. The 16V N/a was quicker and handled better than my MX5. The 20VT was a Part exchange and sadly had been mistreated by the previous owners and needed a little tlc. Both 16V Turbos were superb.
The biggest problem with the Fiat Coupe is and always will be the fact they depreciated to the point Jeremy Kyle show reject could afford them, run them without insurance and thrash them half to death before moving them on.
A decent well serviced and looked after Coupe' will prove itself as reliable as any other car. Like all cars you just need to buy wisely.

@ Lone granger. If you need a hand to get into FCCUK send me a pm ,give me the details and i will pass a message to a mod.
As for owning a 20vt it's all down to maintenence just like any other car. The temptation to go heavy on the right foot is there for sure,as it's such a sweet car to drive.
The rewards for looking after the Fiat are loads of smiles for miles.
If you want to tune it,well its a great car for that. But anything above 320/330 hp then you need to rebuild the engine and go forged.
