147 fuel consumption
Discussion
I am looking into buying a 147 to use as a daily commuter - mostly motorway miles.
I have a gentle right foot - will I be able to get 40mpg on a smooth 60mph run over 70 miles?
Conscious that the 147 is not THE ideal commuter but I can not face sitting in a diesel Golf or Skoda every day?

With the diesel, no problem.
Petrol - you'll be seriously struggling. Best I can get out of my 2 litre twin spark is 34 mpg and that's seriously nursing it. 1.6 won't be much better.
From memory I got mid 30's out of my 1.6 in normal driving - and I'm pretty gentle. Diesel would be your best bet!Petrol - you'll be seriously struggling. Best I can get out of my 2 litre twin spark is 34 mpg and that's seriously nursing it. 1.6 won't be much better.
