Hi Eddie,

Assuming your is the one up for £19995, it seems to be up for far too much money.

Palmers who I think are an Alfa Romeo dealer have got one up, same age and milage as yours for £17995.

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/2740819.htm

I suggest £16995 to move it on personally.

That's the semi-skimmed S you've shown there. My one is well priced for a full fat SV6. Most are around £19k for higher mileage.

The one at Palmers isn't a proper S looking at it.

The S models have ehausts tips that are mimick the same shape of the rear lights. The Palmers one hasn't got them although the one in the Meridien advert has.

Alfa did make a semi skimmed model. Even the one at meridien isn't 100%. Its missing the grey wheels.

They only non 100% cars were 2.2 JTS cars with an 'S' interior and 17" wheels.

The silver wheels were standard at the time on Grey ones but quite often dealers swapped them for black ones off a red or black car.

That one at palmers does look to be sitting a bit high on its (standard?) suspension...

Yeah the palmers one does look a bit suspect, although they are advertising it as an S. What an odd car. The Meriden car seems right though.

Yeah, the Palmers one has no SV6 badges, no Prodrive mudflaps, no Prodrive exhaust and is on standard suspension. Not an SV6 then! Cant see the haedrests on the seats so cant see if it has or hasnt got the S plaque built in.

Correct. The one at Palmers should simple not be called an 'S'.

It's probably one of those which were destined to become an 'S', and arrived at Portbury with the interior bits -- leather dash and alloy pedals and steering wheel from the 159 Ti -- and on steel wheels, which then didn't receive the Prodrive treatment; instead ending up at various dealers who tarted them up however they wanted, e.g. Mangoletsi's "Modifica" and Meridien Milano's "Milano Edition", or apparently in the case of Palmers: simply chuck some 19" Prodrive 'S' wheels at it and called it an 'S'.. rolleyes

Still it's on par for that particular course.

In answer to the OP: PH and Autotrader should cover it. As already suggested, try http://www.alfaowner.com also; and the Alfa Romeo Owners Club offer advertising on their website and (bi-monthly? quarterly?) magazine. http://aroc-uk.com/club/howtoadvertise.htm but I've now idea how effective that will be. Good luck.

Hello, i was interested in buying your wife's S V6 as you know, but realistically you were asking too much for it, which as painful as it sounds, is why you may have had problems selling it.

I am now on my third exact same car and i can tell you that i bought my current 2008 58 plate model, 1 owner, Metallic Grey, only 10k miles and spotless for only £16,400 from the Black and White Garage in Newbury, and that included free delivery, a new MOT for when its due in October, road tax and a tank full of fuel.

My last 2 Brera S's ive traded in at £18k each, but they both had touchscreen sat nav stereo systems installed aswell.

The Palmers Brera is definately NOT an S, i had this checked out by Meridien and although they have put the 19's on it, the car does NOT come with the certificate to prove its worth, so i would not be going anywhere near it (unless you wanted a normal Brera 3.2)

I did try buying the Red S that Meridien Milano had for sale in Bournemouth, (i had bought my brand new black S from them in 09) but they wouldnt move on the £18,995 price that they wanted for it - again, over priced and i see that today (12th July 2011) they have reduced it by £1,000.00 to £17,995.00, however, as nice as it is in red, i probably wouldnt buy it anyway as ive been told by a very reliable source (Chris Variava Alfa Romeo) that they have big issues in Red with the paint flaking off.

This is just my honest opion and not meant to upset you or anyone, but the truth is that your wife's car, as lovely as it is, was never worth the £20k ish that you wanted for it. Maybe £17 to £18k tops.

Just go onto What Car? and get a free price valuation, you will see what i paid for mine was bang on the money.

First I've heard you were interested in buying it. Did you message me or call me?

As per the advert, the paint on my car was redone last year and has not chipped or flaked since.

Yes i did email you but i never had a response Eddie so i guessed you had had other interest or sold it.

Ah thats good you had it re-sprayed, but it confirms what i was told by AR that the red ones did have problems.

I wish you every success in selling it for the money you want for it.

If you are struggling, then you might want to try talking to a guy who bought my last car from me, although a dealer he was very fair and gave me a good price on my last car (Renaultsport Megane 225), his name is Joe Pina, and he pays you cash via instant bank transfer in front of you so its completely safe. His company is called First National Car Sales Ltd and his number is 01923 841805 or mobile 07970 743554. Give him a try it wont cost you anything i guess!
