Afternoon Alfa types, I need your help identifying a car please.

Pics come from a friend who was looking round a house that's for sale and spotted this in the garden.

His comment to me was "I saw this and know you're into cars; no idea if it comes with the house, or is for sale separately or at all" He didn't think to ask I gather! rolleyes

From a quick Wikipedia search I think it's a 105 Junior - but I know nothing about old Alfas!

It doesn't look in too good a condition - apparently the interior is fairly tatty.

Thanks,
Steve

Err I think that is a 105 GTV so probably 1300 or 1600. Looks a bit sad but they are fantastic cars when sorted.

It's a Giulia GT Coupe most probably a 1600 from the mid to late 60s, this body shape is the most desirable of the 105 Series Coupes as it is now used as the basis for GTA replicas, it's known as the 'Step Front' or 'Scalino' style. It could be of interest to Alfaholics or Classicalfa. Good Find!

It's a "stepfront" 105 GT. If it's pre-66 it's very desrirable as people turn them into historic racing GTA replicas. I can't decide if the brakes are Dunlops or ATE as that's one way to tell if it's an earlier car. I think it's got the later ATEs on it.

If it's post 1966 it's still desirable! However it will probably need at least £10,000 spending on a professional body restoration, unless your pal is handy with a welder. As is it will still be saleable as a project, for somewhere between say £500 and £2000 depending on how good the bits are. The bumpers for instance look pretty tidy as they dent easily.

So the upshot is it's not a deal breaker on the house. However if the seller says "do you mind if I leave it", don't complain!

Doesn't look to bad either lots of the areas that I'd expect to have rotted if it was a real rot box seem OK by the looks of it.

It certainly would make a nice project for someone, don't let anybody scrap it.

OK that makes it a 1300 GT Junior, one of the very last step fronts they changed the Juniors to have the later flush bonnet front end in 1970, so it really is one of the last.

The brakes are ATE then.

Still a nice little project but not quite as desirable as a pre 66 or pre 68 cars due to the Historic motor sport date cut offs.

There is a thread running on Alfaowner at the moment about a barn find Alfa which seems to have some parallels, roughly where in the country is this one?.

Clearly not the same car, the other is in South Wales, but although the guy who found the other has an optimistic hope it's a (Very rare GTA) it's more likely to be a GT Junior like the green one you found.

These cars don't often pop up like this, so to have two come at the same time is quite unusual.
Keep us posted as to it's fate won't you. smile

Very similar car to mine (H-reg GT Junior) which I've turned into a very rapid racer. This car (given the state of the interior) would make an ideal project. See my progress at www.alfa.me.uk

Lots of video on YouTube of my racing (latest race here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgWGJrioOoY )

Mmm they do look different I must admit. Not sure when they made the switch from Dunlops, but I'm sure it's well after this was built.

Whoops, just logged in properly and noticed the angry face on one of my replies to Mitch - sorry Mitch, I guess replying from my phone isn't perfect! smile

Some interesting stuff in those replies, thanks guys; I'll see if I can get more info on the car next week.

Afternoon all, quick update.

Got the number of the estate agent from my friend and rang to see what the score was re the Alfa.

Apparently the car belongs to the house vendor's daughter-in-law and isn't for sale.

Wonder how long it'll sit there under the trees like that with winter approaching? frown

Hi,

Final update; friend has driven past the house today and apparently the old Alfa has been removed from the garden. Hopefully by the vendor or a relation rather than some random metal thief!

This is mine. Slightly modified biggrin

I believe the car is a Sprint GT or Junior. If it is for sale I'd be interested :-)
