GTV immobilised itself / I need help
Discussion
Hi and thanks to everybody for the former advice, however, the formidable GTV refuses to go. Briefly, I changed the battery and it was fine for a mile or so and then I went over a bump in the road and she died. When I tried to start her a key logo had come up on the dash and it wont go out.Today the RAC recovered the car but couldnt get it to go. He checked the inertia switch, I have had the battery dosconnected for hours, days. I have taken the cowl off the steering column and checked the wires, rubbed the key on the transponder, even prayed, but still it is dead. Can anyone help!
I have seen your previous posts and you got some good advice from others, sorry there's no fix yet.
This is a longshot but I had a similar issue on my 156 a while back.
Bumps in the road etc were causing cut outs (but not total disconnection)engine would die but dashboard etc would be powered, engine would turn over but not start. Everything suggested it was a sensor issue.. It wasn't a sensor but a bad earth. My mechanic put an extra earth cable from the battery to a point on the body. Haven't had a problem since.
Alternatively unplug wipe and replug some the big bosch fuses at the front right of the bay(on a V6). That has also "magicaly" fixed some electrical niggles for me.
Whatever happens, hope you find a cure, even if these ideas aren't the right ones - good luck!

The above reminded me, my GTV simply refused to start one morning, the Genius that is Gus from Alfatune came round and spent a while checking everything, turned out to be a dry earth, the cure was to slacken off the earth at the back of the engine (still pretty tight) and twist it so it cleaned itself, hey presto......engine ran.....
