GTV gear selector issues - help!
Discussion
An annoying problem - after much head scratching just can't figure out how to fix it....
Firstly - Car is a mega low mileage (33k) 3l 24v GTV, 98 model.. has been laid up for some while in store - but before hibernation had an annoying problem evident - the gearstick became very very stiff side to side - no problems selecting gears fine for, er, male driving but just not "right" , so yesterday had a squint at the problem- greased & lubed everywhere with ver very minor improvement, access is somewhat limited but soon became apparent is that whatever the cause may be its and involved job - so if this sounds familiar to anyone - then I'm appreciative for all suggestions of what may be wrong & how to fix it...
... One of the last remaining jobs to do before car's up for sale as the most mint low miler - just can't get my head around it!!!.....

Reasonably common fault- one of the pivot pins in the selector tower runs on two plastic bushes. These either wear out or corrosion pinches the bushes into the pin which stiffens the movement.
You'll need two new selector bushes (might have two spare myself- I'll check) might be worth searching on www.alfaowner.com to get a guide on what to do.
