No point to this thread really, just wanted to show off The Mrs' new car.

I haven't really had too much of a go in it yet... but the engine definately has some character!

Any other owners on here??

I always get a 500 rental car when working out in Holland - off there next week and looking forward to picking it up for the week. Fantastic little car and a proper rocket when you plant your right foot. Not driven a UK model, but is great in left hand drive. My sister in law has the Lounge edition and that looks great, my daughter wants one for her first car.. no doubt we will have one on the driveway at somepoint (after I have added a GTV-6 to run alongside the 156TS). Enjoy smile

Forgot to mention.. Got left for dead in my 2.0TS Veloce by an Abarth 500!!! It must be running on steroids with a bad case of the runs biggrin

Nice car - I shifted your Passat for you on the evening you collected. Nice to see two Pistonheads stickered cars on site!

Yes, I don't take the Tivver in very often but when the weather is nice, its rude not to. smile

Didn't get the chance to take the Clio out unfortunately, I left work on Tuesday night and wasn't back until Thursday - the Clio was gone by Wednesday afternoon! Hope you enjoy the car, and you know where we are if there's anything you need.

Love it. Enjoy.

Wife desperate for one of these as a runabout. She could use the FFRR less and what she'd save in fuel a month would probably pay for the 500. So tempted.

She wants the same colour too. smile

(trying to steer her towards and Abarth though wink)

Amy loves it - loads of discussions every night about how best to drive it.

The shift up indicator comes at very low RPM, and the engine seems to labour.

Seems strange, but maybe it's supposed to be driven that way!?

Yes, the shift indicator will happily advise you to change gear far too early - all to do with economy. If you follow its lead, it will bog the engine down unfortunately. Really, the Twinair just loves to be revved.

It's the same with the non-twinair's. My 1.2 tries to get me into 5th at 30. It's just an economy thing, and I *think* you can turn it off in the menu...

Our 500 Abarth does the same when in normal mode. Luckily, we have the 'Sport' button which lets you rev the tits off it!
How do you switch the sport button off? Can't seem to find mine biggrin

Good choice though OP, great little cars!

Isn't the shift up indicator for different things in the Twin Air and Abarth?

In the Twin Air it tells you to shift early to save fuel. In the Abarth with sport on it tells you when you at the top of the rev range to shift. My Abarth certainly doesn't tell me to shift for economy??

If you have a sport button its on the middle of the dash to the left of the hazard.

It's done about 200 miles now and economy is getting better all the time.

I did skipton to Leeds last night which has some rural, hilly, windy roads and managed ~55mpg.

Dealer said they find cars get much more economical by 2000 miles, and that for the first 1000 miles there is a bit of a power restriction as well.

tHAT'S WAY BETTER THAN SOME HORROR STORIES i'VE BEEN HEARING, i KNOW GUYS THAT HAVE BEEN STRUGGLING TO GET 35MPG REGARDLESS OF HOW CAREFULLY THEY DRIVE.

You basically have to drive between 1500 and 2000 rpm! You end up being quite sedate!

Still find myself stuck in traffic queues anyway so accelerating gently and changing up early doesn't even slow your journey down around town.

It loves to rev and makes a great noise when you do put your foot down!

Yes mate, I was getting at the Abarth in non sport mode, when it does tell you to change for economy.
Can that not be turned off in the menu somewhere? My one only shifts in Sport and not for Economy.
