We have an Alfa 147 JTD from new and it's been the best car we've ver had bar none. It's just done 50k miles and has started to 'hold back' a bit when driving, almost like it's a blockage. Sometimes put your foot down and it goes, holds back, spurts off again. Or just doesn't take off at all.
Any ideas? limp home? fuel block? engine management?
Any help glady recieved. thumbup

Sounds very much like an EGR valve issue. Very common on the 1.9 engines.

Check there isn't a crack in any of the pipes leading to/from the turbo. A cracked pipe can cause all sorts of issues.

Both of the above...plus the MAF might be giving problems.

Cheers guys, really appreciate the help. Diesels are a 'black art' to me.
PS; It's far worse when cold and chucks out loads of smoke and just can't pick up the revs, but once warm it's drivable. confused

Just curious, if it's the egr, is there a mod to delete it?
