Alfa 156 warning light
Discussion
Hi
My car has just passed its MOT (big expense but first time in 2.5 years ownership.) It is a 2001, 156 2.4JTD SW.
As part of the MOT the sidelights needed new bulbs (as its a PITA I let the garage do this for me - pure laziness!)
But now the warning light in the dash has not extinguished and when I put the lights on the warning light comes on too. Does this need resetting - or is there a wiring issue somewhere else. All lights (externally) seem to be working....
Many thanks
Mike

It should go out when you restart your car after the lamp is replaced.
Check and double check, number plate lamps are always a favourite to be missed.
Could be a bad earth connection somewhere.
Also check there isn't a small glow from the rear tail light with the lights/ignition turned off,
if there is you need a new rev counter - I found this out the hard way

Had pretty much the same situation after just buying mine. Could see sude light had gone so changed it (PITA that is) and still dash light on, yup, number plate one had either just gone too in sympathy or we'd not notice it out.
Did reaffirm my scepticism of bad Alfa electrics. Touch wood, out of any broken things we've had, none have been electric.

If you have all the bulbs working this could be the 'faulty check system' problem. A diode (behind the bulb warning light in the rev counter) blows and you get a reverse current flow. If it's failed you'll find a very faint glow in the off side rear light (with everything off). Repair is a replacement rev counter.
