I've owned a couple of 131 Sport Mirafioris in the past. Loved 'em and would love to have another as a restoration.

But what is the best car FIAT have ever produced, the 124 Sport Coupe?

I also had a yellow 127 Sport which was great fun

Best FIAT? The coupe for me, but I've a massive soft spot for the Dino and the 130 Coupe from the late 60s. The latter was fairly ste as a car, but just looks stunning and very very cool in black.

130 Coupe for me, stunning looks and presence. In terms of Fiat doing what they do best, ie small cars I would say the Mk1 Punto 55 or the Mk1 Panda 4x4, great little cars with lots of flair.

For modern ones I would say that the frog faced Multipla must come pretty close to being the best all round car that they have built, for the more sporty stuff, the barchetta and the Coupe both have a strong claim. I have never driven a Coupe but my barchetta was great fun.

The Fiat Coupe is probably the best and fastest modern Fiat but for me it's the 124 Spider and 8V.

Love the 131 and 127 Sports in Arinco Racing Orange!

My 131 was a hopeless rotbox tho with a peach of an engine and great ride/handling balance.

127 sport was good but not as good as the 127 1300GT afterwards.

130TC Abarth was great and proper quick with great handling but the brakes, man the brakes were shocking!

Now the MkII 105TC was really the best, superb balance of power and handling and great lift of oversteer!

So 105TC was the best for me and it would match at 16v Golf on the road!

as an aside I recall that the 131, 105 and 130 all had steering dampers on the bulkhead above the rack which I thought unusual at the time?

Mk1 Panda 4x4 (965cc)
Mk2 Panda 4x4 (999cc)

Any Mk1 or Mk2 Panda really (the new Panda is the Mk3 although most people think it's the Mk2)...

..as they have big enough engine bays to take up to the Bravo/Brava 100 1.6 engine. wink

I'm also a fan of the Cinquecento Sporting...

Fiat Coupe 20v Turbo, is the best for quite some time. Innovative 5 cyl engine, bold styling, quality touches (fuel cap and key in naked alloy), clever 4 seat packaging and booming performance make it hands above anything else. Still want another one.

The 124 spyder is the most pretty Fiat ever, and compares well to any Italian beauty.

On the utilitarian side the original panda 4x4 is hard to beat.

A lot depends on your definition of "best"

From a very biased perspective, my heavily modified Coupe turbo is the best - 450bhp, 0-100 in 9 seconds - proper supercar performance from a humble Fiat and the ability to return mid to high 30s mpg when the mood takes me.

However, my son's fiancée has a 1996 Punto Mk1 that cost £150 three years ago, and has swallowed less than £100 in maintenance since then - my Coupe costs that much every month

Also, my son used to have a Punto Mk2 1.2 - no matter how hard I drove it, I couldn't get it to do less than 40mpg average and in the snow, it was by far the fastest car out there - I was out-dragging and out-cornering all the modern stuff - I even pulled away from a Cayenne turbo...

Lots of contenders for best Fiat but for me the prettiest has to be the barchetta.

I loved the couple of 124 sports I had, always wanted an X1/9, a 124 Spider, and a Dino coupe. The 125T was popular down here and a real rocket ship at the time.

Actually, the 124 Spider Abarth, 695 esse esse and 850tcr would be great to have a play in.
