156 rear windows

Hi my mates alfa 156 both of rear windows stopped working its not the fuses any ideas

Very common if they've been rarely used they seize up, you are looking at roughly £40 per side to repair

One of mine was not working, but there was power to the switch because it was clicking at the motor. I was told that if you can get at the motor, sometimes all it needs is a 'tap' with a hammer!
This was by a local Alfa expert.

So I removed all the trim ( guide on Alfaowner.com or was it 156.net?)and managed to get it working by gently tapping the motor with a hammer while keeping the power on. It started working immediately. I then lubricated all the bits I could get at, and put silicone spray ( Halfords) along the guides to free them up.

Regular use even in the winter helps to keep them active. Also check that the master driver's door switch is working; IIRC this can affect the back door switch. The window switches are a bit delicate and can easily snap.

They are quite a poor design, water running down the glass dripps into the mech so if it's not used much and lubricated (as noted in the post above) they seize up.

The off side rear window in my 156 has never worked since i bought it nearly 2 years ago but I don't care 'cos I sit in the front!
