Will a Punto rad fit a Barchetta?
Discussion
Hello,
A friend has offered me his Barchetta as it needs a new new radiator, 2 temperature sender switches and 3 coolant pipes for oil cooler. He has been quoted £750 to have it fixed so he just wants rid now.
I can fix most things so that's not a problem, but I'm guessing the new rad will be the most expensive part of that list so was wandering if I could get a second had Punto one to keep the costs down?
Then when I'm done what are my chances of being able to sell it on at this time of year? Or should I hang on to it till spring?
Thanks in advance
Andy

No idea about the radiator (you could try the Fiat Forum?) but if you're going to be driving it around it may be wise to get an insurance quote. These can be a bit dear to insure....group 16 I think...
Lovely to drive mind you!
Yes it's the insurance that is putting me off the most! I will pop over to the fiat forum if no one here can help. I just thought I'd try here first as I'm already signed up here...Lovely to drive mind you!
I have a feeling it'll be Barchetta-specific
I was looking at a Barchetta that was in for work at the Italian specialist where I take my Fiat Coupe - the rad is very wide and quite shallow (to fit in the Barchetta nose) - My son has a Punto (Mk2B) and Wifey has a Grande Punto and neither of the rads on these look anything like the Barchetta's
I'd love a Barchetta, but LHD-only and a hefty insurance group has put me off, as has their propensity to rust in a way that only an Italian car can.

I thought it may be just for the Barchetta, not to worry.
As it turns out I’m not sure it actually needs replacing. I made the mistake of just believing what the garage he’d not been to before had told him. It occurred to me to actually ask what was wrong with it, it’s just got a bit of an over heating problem with not oil or water leaking out anywhere! I pointed out to him that the big expensive list he was given (that just copied in the start of this post before actually thinking) may well not all need doing. He still wants rid of it though so I think I’ll pick it up & take my chances as he doesn’t want much at all.
It’s done 135,000 miles so when I’ve finished it won’t be going for as much as the 65,000 mile ones that all seem to be up for sale at £3,000 at the moment….
