Looking at getting one of these as a sensible motorway cruiser!

Any thoughs or anything to look out for?

Also seen you can safely remap them to give an extra 50hp and 37lbft, should be a nice performance/economical compromise!

Love mine, although it's going this week to be replaced by a shiny 159.

Check window seals, and also unwind the front seatbelts as far as they go, and check they are not damp - if they are, the front scuttle will need removing and all the debris cleaning out - this can block the drain holes, and then water goes through the vents to the lowest point, where the reels are bolted down. Causes the car to fog up somewhat.

Door handle brackets are weak, so make sure they are not going to snap off.

Front suspension can be squeaky - if so, bits will need replacing. More noticable when it's clod outside.

Airbag light can be a loose connection under the passenger seat.

If you change the cambelt, do the waterpump too - this is the weak point.

In addition to the above check the clutch isn't too heavy, should be OK at those miles though. The swirl flap mechanism as part of the emission control system is prone to breaking resulting in a smell of diesel fumes in the car.

I would be wary of increasing the power too much, the aforementioned clutch/DMF could take a hammering and the already weak suspension will be under more pressure not to mention the increase in front tyre wear. The 170 bhp GT seems pretty quick if all you want is a daily driver, feels quicker than a Brera 2.4 IMO.

I'd get one, remap it so you have around 190BHP then enjoyhigh MPG and it's a great cruiser...
