Hi all,

First post from a newbie (go easy!)

Can anyone advise please. Wifes Abarth 500 is a year old and has done a smidge under 8K miles. Can anyone recommend an Abarth dealer? Our local one would be Thames Fiat but they don't fill me with confidence. Also what cost to expect?

Thanks in advance

I have used Rockingham and Lipscomb for my servicing.

Lipscombe put non "abarth" oil in the car, Rockingham used the proper oil, this is because I supplied all of the parts for that service instead.

I would return to either but I went out of my way to go to rockingham and would do so again on my next service most probaly. It depends on the length of service there is not a lot to do around either dealership so bring a book or something.

Thanks for the feedback.

Did you have your A500 serviced at a standard Fiat dealer??

Most Fiat dealers won't touch an Abarth, especially the ones with an Abarth dealer as part of their franchise.

Also most Abarth dealers don't know what is actually required and at what times.

Suggest getting yourself signed up on Abarthisti (abarth-forum.co.uk?) For some honest reviews of every Abarth dealer in the UK.

You'll also find a list of service items and frequencies smile

jpm75: Your 500 is due a service at 9000 miles which will be Oil and Oil Filter. At 1 year it is also due a new Pollen Filter.

Abarth service schedules follow mileage rather than time with a few exceptions. Pollen Filter and Brake Fluid being two smile

It varies from dealer to dealer but it seems to be the growing trend. There appears to be an force that scares off Fiat dealerships..

Maybe it's the essence of the Scorpion that does it? :P

From experience you'd be better off going to a good local independent and making sure they use the correct parts for the sake of any potential warranty claims you might have to make.

Oh and only Abarth dealerships can make warranty repairs smile

Car goes into Thames Abarth tomorrow (wish me luck!). Apparently a low mileage annual service is needed, quoted £136 all in.

I'll let you know how I get on.

How complicated can it be? I wouldn't worry.

True, especially as the car is only a year old.

Any problems should be covered under warranty.

Well I have to say that Thames Motor Group did a reasonably decent job.To quote my wife who took the car in, " the woman she dealt with couldn't do enough, customer service skills were excellent"

Ok, it took them 3 attempts to find a courtesy car with any fuel in it, they did call me to say It needed pads & discs (they'd mistaken my wife's car for another) and it took longer than expected, but job was done, service booked stamped and cost as was as expected.

Would I use them again? Yes I think so.

Thanks to everyone for their advice on this thread.

We had ours serviced at our local non-Abarth dealer, we had to supply the oil, they supplied the oil filter and pollen filter.

They did say they couldn't do any warranty work.
