Hi, Considering one of these - Alfa Romeo 147 1.9 JTDm 16V TI 3dr Hatchback Special Edition (bright red too). It has 90k on the clock but full history and seems in good nick. Second car so mileage not too concerning but is there anything I should look out for in particular. Any guidance gratefully received. I have always wanted an Alfa!

Usual stuff really.

Make sure the cambelt and water pump have been changed, if not allow £500 to get this done and use it to chip the price. If they tell you its been done ask for proof.

When driving listen out for noises from the suspension and any play in the steering. Look out for tyre wear on the inner edges front and rear.

Look out for stone chipping on the front end, however also the rear arches and be a bit prone.

Make sure it's got service history, not worried about a full service history, however evidence that it has been maintained frequently. I bought my 156 SW with a partial history, then it had only done 24,000 miles in 6 years when I bought it.

Make sure the digital climate control works OK as this can be temperamental.

Sure others will suggest other things to look out for.

Thanks for the information, I love the look of this car but am concerned that big bills may be round the corner. Going at the weekend so if anyone else has anything would be pleased to hear from you.

Sure others will suggest other things to look out for.

Drop links and wishbones should have been changed twice by now, if not, use it as a bargaining tool.
They need replacing 'normally' every 30k. But a lot depends on how it's been driven.

Not forget the ARB as well, the bushes could be on their way out by now.

Thanks for the advice. I realise that at 90k it could need work so this is very helpful.
Cheers.
