E70 X5 Headlight Washers failure
Discussion
I've had a poke around and cant' see if anyone else has had the same issue. During the freeze last Xmas the headlight popup washers stopped working. I'd like to try and diagnose/fix myself as out of warranty now.
It hasn't been a problem to date, but I'm due my MOT next month and this is now a requirement to be working (it is here in NI anyway).
Any thoughts? Motor gone? Clogged? Loose connection? Fuse?

There is a sort of piston mechanism behind the cover which probably has come disconnected with the freeze.
Have a look at this link as it shows you how to fix it, the piston just needs to be reconnected.

Had the same problem a couple of winters ago and I think this is your problem.
if that is not the case I would suggest to watch out when you deploy the screen wash button and watch where there is a puddle of water on the ground.
Good luck.

THanks, will check it out. I was also planning on seeing if there was any water dripping anywhere, but given the volume of rain fallen here it's hard to see where thats coming from!Have a look at this link as it shows you how to fix it, the piston just needs to be reconnected.

From what it looks like, that appears to be an E53. I wonder if the mechanism is the same or different?
