Hi all, im thinking of buying a 1999 alfa 3.0 sportronic, just a few questions.... what mpg would i get, the car im going for has air bag light on , one rear door lock doesnt work with central locking, and cd multichanger is brocken, are these a popular wear and tear or is this a bad sign of electrics starting to go wrong? ive heard bad points with these cars concerning electrics

If you're looking at buying a 3.0 V6 and are asking about fuel economy, you're looking at the wrong car!

to be fair the alfa is quite old, so expect a few glitches. as long as you can live with them. depends on how cheap the car is,if it's less than a grand just drive it and enjoy, expect 22-25mpg though.
i bought a 156 jts for £250! was a good car ,never broke a thing in 9 months and sold for £750!loved it

If that's all that's wrong with a 13 year old 166 then it sounds like you've found a good one. Just buy and enjoy, I wouldn't even bother repairing the rear door, at least when the other 3 refuse to open you have a way in!

What a ridiculous response to a quite well worded part reply to your question.

LOL

I was amused by the response to be honest.

It does strike me as odd that people look at cars like the 166, which is a fine car by the way, then ask about the fuel economy of the 3.0 V6. If economy is important, then I suggest you look at the 2.0 TS instead or even a 156.

Ok then!

Good luck, hope you know what you're looking out for when you view the 166.

i hope the mods get hold of this ridiculous person and boot him from the site. a rather amusing comment taking completely the wrong way by someone who is obviously too tightly wound to own an alfa, whats he going to do when the rear demister packs in? hopefully he'll buy a bmw and then leave us all in peace.

Lol

My original post was serious. Yes, I was also thinking Alfa ownership is not for him.
