Alfa 159 ipod/mp3 adaptor for Standard radio via Aux
Discussion
Following looking through umpteen forums trying to find a solution to this, I just went ahead and bought some ebay-special cables, and it has worked
I wasnted to use an mp3 player with my standard non-satnav radio/cd in the 159. It has no cd changer, and no connections going out.
So heres a quick guide on how it's done.
buy these:

to remove the radio. It can be done with wire apparently, but I didn't manage it!
Buy this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/260820303468
plugging it in instead of the yellow plug at the back of the radio
Then attach this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230781799236
and plug it into the other cable.
There is room behind the radio to trace the wires around and have them coming out either on the glove compartment, or by the passengers seat. Just be warned you will skin your finger badly
anyhow, ipod/mp3 works perfectly now. Just have to push the CD button until it goes to Aux.

I'm finding it fine tbh. just work out the right combination between volume on the ipod and the headunit and its perfect, quality is good too.
The alternatives I have seen on the ninternet to this all seem quite quite expensive which I found confusing as it should be simple! Still no idea what the wire that is now disconnected(yellow single) does/did. nothing seem affected though!
