IF ANYONE HAS PROBLEMS WITH THE DIFFERENTIAL OR GEARBOX IN THEIR 147GTA COULD YOU PLEASE POST HERE OR SEND ME A PRIVATE MESSAGE.
I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY DIFF. IT BROKE A TOOTH IN THE DIFF. AND EFFECTIVELY DESTROYED THE DIFF COMPLETELY! AFTER ONLY 10,000KM IT SEEMED TO BE STRANGE AS I DON'T ABUSE MY CAR. TO CUT A LONG STORY SHORT ATECO AUTOMOTIVE(ALFA-ROMEO AUSTRALIA) IN SYDNEY WOULD NOT PAY FOR IT, SAYING IT WAS THROUGH DRIVER ABUSE. I KNOW OF 3 OTHER CASE OF THE DIFF. FAILING. THERE IS A FAULT WITH THE GEARBOX THAT ALFA DO NOT WANT TO ADMIT. ONE OTHER CASE THAT I KNOW OF ACTUALLY LET GO IN THE HANDS OF RICK DAMILIAN MECHANICS AND WAS HONORED UNDER NEW CAR WARRANTY, MINE WASN'T. THAT IS WHY I AM COLLECTING AS MUCH INFORMATION AS I CAN.

ALL HELP IS APPRECIATED

This the same problem you were posting about back in June? If so, better to bump the old topic rather than start all over again.

and COULD YOU PLEASE STOP SHOUTING NOW

Hello pwig. Finally someone with something interesting to post!
You said that you have not encountered this problem, though is the diff. a ware and tare item?
Is it possible to get a 147 GTA Differential Diagram or design?

The diff should not be down as ware and tear, however if it broke because of your driving, Alfa will not cover it.

And in answer to your other question, no

Sounds like your being fobbed off. Have you ever broken a diff before? if not then good chance it's not your fault. More likely a casting flaw if its gone so soon. A good engineer who specialises in diffs should be able to confirm that. Better than that, it may be possible to ascertain independently the cause of the failure, but it means you must first put your hand in your pocket.

If its any consolation, my business partner is having FAR worse problems with his Freelander. Both the vehicle and the dealer just simpy aren't up to it. Never buy a Land Rover....(about time Solihull pulled their socks up. Still, hope it works out as Britain could do with good manufacturers to boost exports)

oops

after 24,500 fun filled miles, I might be suffering diff trouble.
nearside wheelspin when I'm not expecting it ( 3rd gear, straight dry level road ), and lots of ploughing straight on at corners....
Is it the greasy roads, or have I got more trouble than I really want ?
PWIG, if you're reading this, I'd appreciate any input you've got

cheers
Timbo

Well. Long time boys.
A good friend of mine has just broken his gearbox. That's another Gearbox problem.
That is approx. 10 examples that I know of.

Where is "we"? I have used Bishops in Guildford, Cleveland Cars in Ash and Alan Gibson In Basingstoke. I have had more bad than good experiences at all of them - I only take my 147 there if I really have to (scheduled services, etc). Maybe I'll come and pay you a visit (unless you're oop north)
