Alfa 147 GTA Engine re-mapping/chipping
Discussion
Hi Guys, (first time poster)
If you have seem my reply to "anyone bought a 147 GTA", you can see from the link that my car is somwhat modified. However the one thing i haven't manage to sort is any re-mapping or chipping. Only thing that my Bella has is under the hood is a Novitec sports air filter, which has improved the pick up.
On speaking with the top techy bod (not one of the grease monkeys) Superchips are "dragging their feet" over providing a "chip" for my Bella. Phoned superchips, and didn't really tell me a lot, except drop us your address and we'll let you know. Don't these guys want my business?
I have done a lot of surfing on this, yes, Autodelta want £500 for doing it, however they said we can do it while your wait. I really want to "see" the results for my myself so put Bella on a dyno, get the curve plotted, do the work, then do another dyno.
Dealer reckons dont go for the Autodelta version, he says wait for the superchips version. I dont care who i give my money too, i want the best results.
My question, after all that waffling is this this....
Has anyone modified their GTA with a chip? if so which one and what did you gain from it (fly by wire throttle profile, more torque, more bhp etc)
Or of anyone works or knows of anyone that might be able to help then drop a line to this post.
BTW the dealer has remapped a 156 GTA, same engine, so why not ecu/chip for my Bella? (yes i know i should of asked him)
Cheers guys

Southender, I can't speak from any personal experience of chipping, but I do seem to remember reading somewhere that superchips, whilst being the 'name' brand for aftermarket chips in this country, are a bit of an 'off the shelf' product, based on average characteristics of a model.
The suggestion was that a tuner capable of remapping your chip 'on the fly' while your car is strapped to the rollers of his dyno is always going to produce better results, because he's modifying the program to suit YOUR car, not downloading a 'best guess' based on someone elses.
I've done this MANY times ( with nuts and bolts instead of software, granted ) matching the ignition and carburation of bikes to mild/moderate/severe tuning modifications, where the parts in a dynojet kit weren't spot on for the machine, but half a needle groove here and a jet size there made all the difference.
Maybe someone on a scooby or EVO thread would have more experience/better advice on bespoke chip remapping?
