I have a 2005 156 JTDM 150 with 6 speed box & the 'lift up reverse'.
How easy/difficult is it to replace the leather standard knob with a Richbrook after market one ?

Thanks

Not sure about fitting the aftermarket one. But you just pop of the top the old one. Plate with the gear numbers on it. Then there is a 10mm bolt. Remove it and of it comes.

Not sure that's right mate. If it's a lift reverse in a 156 it's glued on.

I have one sitting to be swapped over on my 156.

Procedure is slide the gaitor down, put a plastic bag over the gear knob, tie it at the bottom. This stops you loosing the spring when the gear knob comes off. Hit the gearknob base upward with a rubber mallet going round all sides. It will eventually come free. A hair dryer may help soften the old adhesive. There is no nut.

Put your new one on using a few drops of superglue.

Thanks for the advice...I may well want to put the original one back on at some point, so your tip about removal with a mallet is welcome!
Seen the Richbrook one in Halfords for £29 and it has all the correct bits, so tempted by that one.
