Probably a stupid question for the alfisti but here goes.
My 99 gtv doesnt have door handles, u blip the zapper, door unlocks and push the barrel to open the door.
In this very cold weather the zapper now wont cause the doors to lock but there is a slight movement and after thorough de- icing i can push the lock barrel in to open the door but cant turn the key to lock it manually.
This morning i could unlock one door off the zapper after deicing but coulnt manually unlock with the key.
So whats the problem chaps, something solenoidy? And how do i fix it.
Idiot terms please chaps as im a tad impractical!

Mmm welcome to the World of Fiat coupes.Er why are you here your not a fiat coupe ?
I think you may need to treat the locks with some silicone grease or something like that.

I had the exact same problem a few days ago.
I got in on the night it happened by spraying WD40 and de-icer all over and around the lock-hole etc.
Next day I got some silicone spray from Halfords and a squirted a load of that in too. I also sprayed some on a rag and smeared it all over the door seals, especially where the window touches.
No problems since.

Good stuff, thanks for the info chaps.
Attacked it with some deicer and wd40 equivalents before so will double up with some silicon spray tomorrow.
At worse the milder weather will hopefull bring the remote locking back to life and i can be better protected next time.
Didnt realise fiat coupes were cursed with the same missing handles but i guess its a gtvs kissing cousin underneath.

Fiat Coupes also have issues with frozen locks in the fuel cap, so you are unable to fill up and frozen handbrakes so you cannot drive until you have laid underneath the rear of the car defrosting the cables with a hairdrier.
