This has to be a record asking price? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Alfa-Romeo-gta-1300-1970...
Theres not much info on it and not much more on their website either.

It's certainly topish, probably testing the market but also (unfortunately) not beyond the realms of possibility that it may get someweher near. Being LHD (and given the very strong markets in Japan, USA and continental Europe) I strongly suspect he is not appealing to the UK market place. I believe similar cars have changed hands for £80k+.
Also it looks to be a very clean stradale which are few and far between, most having been converted into racers or wannabe racers. The value of such clean cars has risen much more sharply in comparison with others.
I will also add that I am not a GTA expert so whilst I follow the prices, at a safe distance, I couldn't tell if it's mascarading as something it isn't (which seems all to common in the GTA world).

Original GTAs were 1600cc only - not involving GTASA etc and GTAM mules etc
In addition (sprint -1600) GTAs were only made in the mid 60's whilst the (1300) GTA juniors continued until 1975 as rumour would have it. There is quite a bit of difference in pricing between the 2 models the 1300 GTAJ worth much less all other things being equal.
This car as advertised must therefore be a GTAJ and given the plastic door covering is unlikely to have a racing provenance as such.
