Hi Guys just wanted to vent my frustration about a GTV i was buying. The car was a black GTV TwinSpark through saw it advertised through pistonheads classifieds, did a 5 hr round trip to check the car, needed a lot of work but we did a deal and i even paid a deposit. I was due to pick up this morning i was excited as it was just the car i was after. But I got a mail couple of days ago from the seller saying he had a big problem with the car( engine lights on etc) only there was no problem and the same car now is for sale on another website! Frustration isn't the word . . .

Eventually managed to get my deposit back, unfortunately car is up for much more than I initially dealt at, not worth paying extra for as it needed a lot of work to make it reasonable. Shame as the seller came across as pretty honest but ended up being a gutless k**b! Oh well you live and learn . . .

Advertised at 1750 but dealt at 1300 as the cambelt/variator needed doing, also the hadn't been serviced in over 2 years, rear brakes were low, missing lower door seals on both sides. Also all 4 suspension coils and front frame showed signs of corrosion as noted on the last MOT. There was also signs of bodywork repair as you could see bare filler on the passenger side door opening. Both door windows didn't drop when the doors were open and CD/Radio didn't work.Boot carpet was missing all plastic trim to hold it in place too. I though it was a fair price considering the work required and an ideal project car. Car is now for sale through a dealer at £1995!

Maybe it was a blessing, hopefully a better one will come up.

not being funny but it looks like you've dodged a bullet on that one, i've seen better sounding ones on the bay go for £400, even if it costs a bag to get sorted you've got a solid car for less than you would have paid for that

Hellsteeth. I'm just about to advertise my 99 spider for about 2 grand and it's nearly immaculate and well loved. Sounds like that car is worth about a grand absolute tops, especially as it's not a V6.

Definitely dodged a bullet there. You've got your deposit back. There are tons of better cars out there.
