Alfa 147 GTA ?? Have I gone mad
Discussion
They definitely are not rubbish. If you buy one with the Q2 LSD then the way it deploys its 250 horses is mighty impressive. You can also jump on the power earlier than you may think, when exiting a roundabout say, and if you don't give it too much gas it'll slightly tighten the line around the corner. Get it wrong with too much gas and it'll understeer like any powerful front driver with or without fancy diff or electronics.
I bought mine as a daily driver. Go for it, you won't regret it.

If it hasn't got the Q2, get one fitted
The stock differential has a habit of going bang and taking a few other bits with it.

I always thought the Quaife LSD was better than Q2, but each to their own etc...
I've just upgraded the brakes on mine (it had the original 305's - which were pants). I've gone for 330 Brembo's, with, strangely enough, the front calipers from an F40
And the winner of todays shameless boast award goes to....... I've just upgraded the brakes on mine (it had the original 305's - which were pants). I've gone for 330 Brembo's, with, strangely enough, the front calipers from an F40

Without getting boastful, I'd like to think I've owned some decent cars - ITR, VXR8, Exige, Elise, RS2...And despite the GTA being the most expensive to run of them all, it's still the best car I've ever owned. Period.
So yes, DO IT, but please please go in with your eyes open, as they can throw alot of bills. It'll cost alot more to run than the equivalent Golf/Megane/Focus of the same era; because of this they're hard to 'recommend' unless you really, really want one (few costs in my blog in my profile if interested)
Oh, and mine was white - gorgeous, beautiful colour...BUT very difficult to get repaired or corrected, so be mindful.
Lovely noise too

I say do it as these are only going to get more and more rare!
Here's mine which is now rather modded

And the thing that makes these such epic cars!

Up for sale then? http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/a...Here's mine which is now rather modded

Or was it your hope someone would post a link

I've looked at these before, seems a great combination of v6, Italian and a bit different.
I've written a buyers guide which can be found here;

Where on earth have you got that idea from?
Worked out at about the same price as the official Alfa upgrade from 305 to 330.
It's widely acknowledged that the std F40 brakes were never really up to the job on an F40, but they seem to stop the GTA ok
