Hi all,

Got to the bottom of my hesitation problems (definitely the MAF.) But now having starting issues.

Replaced the battery as a first attempt, as it died trying to get the car started. New battery means i have more attempts to get it going, so it will start eventually. Sometimes starts 1st time, sometimes 8th.

The car turns over as normal but just wont fire. Seems to only be when the engine is cold, never had a problem restarting a warm engine.

What would be my next step/thing to change to try and fix the issue? Im guessing its a spark issue, but the plugs are supposed to last 60k and mine aren't that old yet (maybe 45k)

It could well be the crank sensor, but they normally cut the car out when hot.

Is the hesitation definitely the MAF? Have you made sure the intake hose isn't split?

Unplugging the MAF gets rid of the hesitation and the car feels like it has another 30hp above 4k. So pretty sure its the MAF.

I was hoping it could be something simple like HT leads or something.

ETA is the cranks sensor a DIY or garage job?

You can do it yourself, it's not the most accessible of parts mind.

hmm may be beyond me, i'm not exactly handy with a spanner!

Is there anything i can do to test if its this that is the problem? I am trying to avoid paying a garage to diagnose/fix the fault. This car has cost me way too much recently hehe
