Any Fulvia experts?
Discussion
Hello chaps,
I'm going to see a car shortly but there are a few 'odd' things about it I am trying to work out in my head. I've asked the owner these questions via email but not got a response yet.
1) It is advertised as a 1967 1.3S but I've had a look and the 1.3S was only made 1970-1974. There was a 1.3 Rallye made in 1967 though but as these would be more valuable I'm surprised he's not advertising it as such. He specifically says it has the ally bonnet, doors, boot etc.
2) It has got a 5 speed dogleg box. I thought these only came in after the Fiat takeover (1970?). Is the 5 speed box a recognised swap even on earlier S1 cars? I know the 4 speed is a much nicer box but if one went bang would a 5 speed just bolt on? Trying to work out why it's there.
3) Is there any way to see from a photo what engine it actually is? I've got quite a few photos he's sent me but I'm no expert at working out precisely what it is from them.
Any advice really appreciated.

If you can post a few photos or point me to the advert I can probably tell you what it is. The 5 speed box was introduced on the 2nd series cars in mid '70, car could have been modified though - not unheard of. You can tell the engine if the photo is taken from the right angle. S1 engines have dynamos and the location bracket is different on the block to 2nd series cars. If its is a second series car then the aluminium panels will have come from a 1st series car as only they had them.

Really need one that shows the carb side of the engine, but a front shot from the non-radiator side would probably do it. Has the car got raised outer headlight? UK S2 cars all had raised outer lights, although a few RHD cars from SA, Auz and Ire with low lights are around now. Another recognition point is the interior air vents. The S1 cars have vents in the corners of the dash, S2 cars have vents in the centre section below the sliding heater controls.

Not sure where you got to with the Fulvia (or Alfa 105, Dino, Alpine...... etc) search, but this cropped up on the BRF
