Any Idea what the deal on the 4C is? Does anyone know a rough cost? Is it to compete with a Z4 or Boxster or something more expensive?

Drive it 500 yards out of the dealership and it'll be worth 50p.

Quoted so you can look back in a few years time and realise how very incorrect your flippant remark was.

Current Alfa residuals are not bad at all though, it riles me when people come out with outdated st like that. fk me I'd have to sell a kidney for a 4C so maybe I should pray for rampant depreciation!

The launch edition is £52k but I read somewhere that the standard car will be quite a bit less, south of £45k. No idea what the difference is. Hopefully the lights being changed! And if it does depreciate catastrophically, I shall be very happy because I want one very, very badly for a weekend car.

Edit:

The Launch Edition is plastered in carbon fibre bits and has race suspension. The horrid carbon fibre lights are, thankfully, only for this version as well. As for the naysayers, the Launch Edition is already sold out. First deliveries in teh Uk are slated for the end of the year.

Very different cars. The 4C is an Evora or Cayman R competitor, not a GT. It's also a statement of intent, I hope, that Alfa are finally going to get back to what they should be building.

Indeed, although in true Alfa 60s fashion, the car is much, much lighter than the competition.

If it doesn't set the world on fire, they will have cocked it up massively. I want to say they should have put a manual GB in it, but only the brits like them so cant be too selfish.

Being that its mainly for the US I'm very suprised it has no manual, the M5 gets one in the US but nowhere else

I didnt know the american market was a fan, in which case I retract my statement and wish they had put a open gate in there!

That would have been perfect, as would putting the F3 fiat 2ltre engine they made in 2007 same bhp, different redline...

After my Evo SST, I hate dual clutch boxes, but I'd make an exception for the 4C....

The yanks love stick in their sports cars, which is why BM are doing it. If anything I think Alfa are going DCT for cache over any legitimate reasoning, lets hope Maranello had something to do with the programming

Its a shame as Alfa could have picked up some serious magizine/journo cred. Especially with the gt3 losing its stick. I doubt given the numbers its made in that Alfa have to worry about the co2 outputs.

Get the image of Alfa as a purists choice, get some good ads/virals showing there car history in racing all being light and small capacity.

Living in Chicago warts and all, I want a manual transmission to make me feel connected to my car.

If the 4C had a manual, I would have considered it. Used Evora or Aston Vantage with a manual is on the radar screen--depreciated of course!
