Dear Alfisti,

My wife has a rare four wheel drive 159 estate which she is considering selling sometime this year to finance a Land Rover if it's worth enough. Anyone got any views on what she should be asking? It's in very good almost immaculate condition, Stromboli grey with black leather, 55,000 miles, 2006 with car related private plate and horseshoe alloys.

I haven't seen a five door for sale for ages hence the question...

Thanks, Chris

I'm afraid it will be one of those cars where the trade will offer you 2 and 6 but somewhere there will be an enthusiast itching to get their hands on it as it's such a rare car. Might be worth ringing a few of the Alfa specialists and see if they are interested, or could at least give you a guide price - Black & White, Monza Sport people like that. Good luck!

It's a lovely thing is that.

Definitely one for the enthusiasts, I agree with Rick. Speak to the specialists or advertise it on the AROC and or Alfaowner forums.

Lovely, lovely car.

Try Paul at Veloces of London they will know what it's worth. Does it fall in the £270 or £470 tax bracket?

The latter I'm afraid. Thanks for your advice.

There are five 3.2 Q4 159s available on Auto Trader at the moment:

Only the one estate at the moment but they're really not as rare as you might think.

I expect private-sale you'd be looking around the £6k - £8k, but I'm only basing that on finger-in-the-air guess work and it may well be a little less given it's age (the 159 improved a fair amount with additional editions like the TI/etc that came later).

260PS. Sorry I should have been more specific. I spent two years searching for an estate for her. The saloons are more often for sale.

The last time I found one for sale she was £8,999 for three months then sold for £5,000 cash and a Nissan Micra part ex'.

The car was written off three days later. frown

Hi Chris !

I've been looking for Q4 sportwagon, but none seem to be in my desired spec.

Prices seem to vary by mileage and age, rather than spec, early 2006s fetching £5500-£6000, pro-rating up to 9k or so for sub 30k 2010s. for some odd reason the SWs are worth a bit less than equivalent saloons.

I may have to look for another car / model, as it doesn't seem I'm going to find the Q4 SW I want for my £6k max.

good luck !
