Everything works apart from the drivers door lock and window. Those are the only Alfaisms to come up on the three mile drive home. Plenty of spares in the boot and both owners are local (and will be keeping tabs).

Should be fun. wink

She's the 1.8 (1747cc) 144bhp model so for £250 a year less to insure I don't get the Cloverleaf power sapping air con, leather bum 'older ballast and tea leaf target. The 2.0ts's 155bhp means they're a whopping 2mph faster (131mph instead of the 1747's 129mph) and find sixty 0.8 of a second sooner.

I don't like red cars so I appologise to the purists but as the paint is flaked and faded I was thinking of a nice (not Guff) blue. Similar to my old 155...

...not my car but the same colour.

Thought air con was standard on the 1.8 too or was it in lieu of the sunroof? My mum had the identical car, they were always like the old man's Cloverleaf I thought. As you say the performance gap is minimal but the plain looking alloys and grey velour interior coupled with quieter induction noise and a softer ride in some ways made for a nicer car. More room under the bonnet and no balance shafts. Agree with you on ditching the red, was that blue called Northern Blue on the earlier 155 16Vs and then changed to Atoll Blue I think.

It's tradition but I fear I would be waking up to a horses head outside of Doncaster. wink

The Cab looks quite cool, ditch the quarter light though, imagine it will have the structural integrity of a tupaware box!

Serious-ish question. I have an airbag light on the dash most of the time. This could be due to lack of use or some Alfaism.

I also have a rather nice Motolita wooden steering wheel from my 33 with an Alfa centre horn button. Can I take the standard airbag wheel off (I don't like the bloody things anyway) take the fuse out and fit the nice wheel on a 145 specific after market hub?

Purely aesthetic and would kill the light on my dash come M.O.T time.

Is it worth investigating the cause of the airbag light instead?

The airbag light is most probably caused by the connector under the passenger seat. It's best to cut the wires either side of the connector & make a more permanent connection to prevent re-occurrence of the fault. Unfortunately remaking the connection won't clear the fault light - you'll have to get it reset by somebody with diagnostic software (or get hold of the software & do it yourself).

EPIC UPDATE!

Before...

...after.

The drivers window now works as well (sticky button) and the boot release stopped working. rolleyes

Opened and shut it a few times with the key and now it works again. I'd better get it open and some grease in there. wink

Top work! I bagged a 2.0 Cloverleaf 145 a few years ago for a smidge over £500, good to know cheap ones are still about.

Three hundred and sixty one Cloverleafs (Cloverleaves?) I wouldn't mind one to stick a V6 in. wink

Does anyone know the maximum tow capacity of the 145? I could use her to drag my trackday Panda to events.
