How do you remove the bonnet badge from a facelift Alfa 156 ( 2005) ?

I have had a go but do not want to mess it up !

I have tried to undo the 3x 8mm nuts on the underside of the bonnet, but these just spin round.
I have also removed the 2 x 10mm bolts that attach the metal plate on to the underside of the bonnet, but this does not completely release the badge/wings.

I have read on Alfa forums about having to go in from the front ie through the badge, but this seems a bit crude...presumably this is because the badge is glued on ?

This follows an attempt to 'polish away the damaged lacquer with some autosol...hoping to leave a nice golden Alfa badge... but I was too aggressive with the scotch brite....and went through into the plastic underneath !!

I have read that there are some cheaper replacement badges as I am not impressed with the prices on the OEM ones..

Any advice welcome !

Those nuts that are spinning. They're the ones you need to undo. I managed it by wedging a screwdriver in and stopping the captive nut from rotating, but if you can do the job without removing it, do it. Otherwise, just get a new one, as you will damage it getting it off.

The badge clips into the chrome surround.

Thanks; my instinct was that those 'spinning bolts' were the correct ones to remove, so I shall persevere !
