Alfa Spyder 3.2 V6 - timing chain needs doing after 45,000
Discussion
All
Looking for a bit of advice. Got the engine light coming on. Dealer has looked at the codes and says the timing chain needs doing, engine out , megger bucks.
The car has only done 45,000 miles so its really frustrating. There have been lots of other issues with the electrics - for example the hood keeps suddenly saying its open when I'm driving. The rear ecu controlling the boot and demisters (why in the boot?) blew and needed replacing. Normally if timing chains go the engine is noisy - but its not. The error codes also indicate that cylinders 1 and 5 are misfiring.
So I'm seeking advice on:
1) Could it be just electrics/sensors somewhere?
2) Any recourse with Alfa on such low mileage - I have seen that these engines have "history" in this area
3) Anyone recommend anywhere that might do the job for less than £1000!!
Advice appreciated

Can't help you on pt.2 but I see you're in Hampshire, if you're near Portsmouth then Mike Roberts might be able to help on pt.1 diagnosis as he has all the equipment & will take a look while you wait, just book in a time in advance as he's a one man band...also don't let his set up put you off!. As a result he very competitively priced.Looking for a bit of advice. Got the engine light coming on. Dealer has looked at the codes and says the timing chain needs doing, engine out , megger bucks.

Another option is calling Lawrence at Autolusso South near Bournemouth. Great guy & very helpful - I've had my GTV serviced there the last couple of years.

Good luck!

Good luck with the fix - it's a big job. Make sure all associated bits are changed too.
