Waterpump desintegration and then oil dripping...

Well, I had an (waiting) accident with my 156 2.5 V6 (1999).
The waterpump failed and the engine ran hot. Boiling hot.
Water leaked out from the pump.
But also som oil was dripping from the engine on to the first horizontal part of the exhaust.
It wasn't a huge amount, but when it dripped on the hot exhaust, it developped a lot of smoke!
I cant see, where the oil is comming from, and it appears to be darker than my engine oil.
I chekced the engine oil level, and besides it was smoking hot, no oil appeared to have been used.
Does any one know where the mystery dark oil is comming from???
