1974 Alfa Sprint 2000
Discussion
Firstly, you need to get a handle on the naming convention of the model you are looking at.
I'm having to assume here that you are looking at buying a 1974 Alfa 2000GTV coupe, it can't be a 'sprint' as the coupe was only known as a sprint GT(V) between 1964 and 67 and all those had 1600's. The later Sud Sprint, never came with a 2000 engine either.
So what to listen for, well not much to be really honest, a crunching into second gear when changing down is the most common fault you will pick up with your ears. The synchro on second is an achilees heel of an otherwise pretty sturdy box, jumping out of reverse is another possible problem, both would need a gearbox rebuild. (about 350 quid if you can take it out and replace it).
In cold weather you might hear various creaks from the suspension, indicating worn bushes, though unless they are really shot they will soldier on for a while creaking. A cluk under braking will be a front castor arm bush, cheap enough to swap for poly bushes.
The engine should be sweet with no real rattles, just a bit from the chain and the cam followers.
Main thing though is rust, mechanicals on these cars are generally bullet proof compared to the body, which rusts, everywhere, but mainly on the sills, floor pans, front anti roll bar mounts and valances... oh and the boot floor, chassis legs, door bottoms...... well everywhere really!.
Apart from all that, they are brilliant. If you point me to the advert, I might be able to help a bit further.
