I was looking at buying a gtv 3.0 24v ,but it seems that the road tax will be 490.00 pounds a year,is this correct. If so what other suitable sporty models fall into the much lower brackets.

They made a GTV 2.0 V6 which wasn't much down on power compared with the 3.0.

Also handles better with less weight at the front.

They made a 2.0 T spark which was a 4 pot as opposed to a V6. I owned a 51 plate in Lusso spec and found it to be a cracking car. The engine is superb and although it only makes about 150bhp it feels a lot more and the exhaust sounds a lot more fruity than you'd expect. The 2.0 is a fair bit lighter than the V6 and because the engine is lighter the car is less nose heavy and doesn't under steer as much. I would gladly buy another 2.0

Anything pre March 2006 is only band K (currently £280) as the higher bands were introduced then.

Pre March 2001 is currently £225 for over 1549cc.

As sjg says, if you go pre March 2006 then you'll save a bundle.

I think the 2.0 V6 is only available as an import, it was never officially sold in this country. So there's probably about 2 in the UK.

This is true. See: http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/advice/road-tax-guid...

I believe all the 147/156 GTA's are £280 also.

The GT 3.2 can fall into the £490 tax bracket if registered after 23/03/2006.

Perhaps a Brera? Very different to (and perhaps a lot more expensive than) a GTV admittedly. The (slow) 2.2 JTS costs £280 a year, and the diesels (if you're happy with a diesel) are around £140. The 2.0 litre diesel is a great engine.

I have seen that if the car is registered after march 2001 and produces 278 g/km co2 (3.0 v6 24v) it is £490,But £225(if pre 2001)

My V6 Brera is £490, the wife's V6 GT is £280.

Our Spider is £220 IIRC, our 500 is free.

Hardly use the GT & Spider (3k PA between them) but don't SORN.

May do if the new system is easier though....

Read the replies above. If its pre 2006 then the most it will cost is £280
