Brake advice needed urgently please...
Discussion
Can anyone help please...?
I have a 159 TI JTDM Sportwagon which needs new front discs and pads. Were the Brembo brakes fitted as standard and were there any disc size options at purchase?
I got a quote from the garage and booked it in for yesterday.
The brakes the garage ordered didn't fit so they got two more sets in which also didn't fit (they were all the same ones, so no surprises there!).
I got a phone late on yesterday afternoon saying that the car had uprated Brembo brakes which were fitted by the factory when the car was ordered and this is why the garage had so much difficulty. Apparently the Brembo brakes are more expensive and the garage now want an additional £60 to fit them.
Not only that but I couldn't have my car back yesterday because the brakes were in bits and I was stranded in town and had to get the bus back home. Now I'm stranded at home and will need to get the bus back to the garage! Not major I know, but it's a real inconvenience.
I don't want to be unfair to the garage and if they were an upgrade that the garage would not have knowledge of, then fair enough. But they asked my reg and told me what it was, so shouldn't they know?
BTW, it's not an Alfa dealership.
Cheers for the help.

I thought all TI models had the same 330mm front discs and calipers (Brembo).
I wonder if they didn't order Ti bits? Many UK cars don't list their full spec on the V5, so you might find a Ti is just "159", or even "159 Turismo".
If the garage then uses the reg number to order parts, it doesn't get the correct items.
In theory it is correct to say the Ti has upgraded brakes at the factory, but in reality the garage should have ordered the correct bits and the owner shouldn't have to point it out!
It has the TI standard Brembo 330mm brakes on.
I've checked my V5 and it states 159 TI on it.
The excuse from the garage is that they weren't to know that the TI model had Brembo brakes!
I asked them to put the old brakes back on and I would collect it and take to Johnson's as they were now cheaper. Outcome is they've agreed to match Johnson's price so at least I don't have to mess about picking the car up from them and traipsing over to Dorridge with it and having to co-ordinate a lift off hubby.
So £224 all done and I can pick it up this afternoon.
Thanks for the advice guys. Like I said, I didn't want to beat the garage up and I needed to be clear on what 'standard' is on a 159 TI. At least I've been able to have a sensible conversation with them and agreed an outcome I'm ok with.
Thanks again,
