Slow Alfa 156 JTD
Discussion
Sorry to intrude, I have strayed from the Cerbera side!
I have a friend who has just purchased an yummy Alfa 156 JTD 2000/W 55K. We have just been for a thrash around the Airfield in it and it seems to him, and me, a little …..well….. sluggish. So we stopped and did several 0-60 tests, in different starting styles. All the results were around 13.5 seconds and the book says 9.5! Is this normal? I have driven a few ‘performance Diesels’ and they do go well but this is a big disappointment to him. He got the car from a main dealer with a FASH.
Any ideas? Is this a normal and respectable time for the JTD?

According to stats a 2000 jtd (12v) is putting out 140bhp and doing 0-60 in 9.1. A 2003 one (24v) puts out 175bhp and does 60 in 8.3 ish I think. Either way is going to be mid range thats most impressive.
I've got a 2003 spec model and find you need to change gear quite regularly to make most of big torque. Revving nuts off it and you are just wasting derv, but get the change right and it really feels like you are flying.
Dervs - short power band and all that.

Hi you may well find it is the AFM and or Fuel Filter I have a 2.4 JTD with a squilion miles and it must be on its 3rd Air Fuel Meter thing.
I had exactly the same thing about 10k miles ago which was cured by changing the Air Fuel Meter and Fuel Filter. Either that or check all the pipe connections from the Turbo make sure it is not leaking boost any where.
