Fiat 500 standard stereo or Beats?
Discussion
I am looking to get a 500 for my wife and was wondering what the standard stereo was like. Is it worth optioning the Beats speakers or is the standard set up ok? I am not a committed audiophile but if the standard system is a bit ropey I might upgrade, although following a Google it appears the general consensus on the Beats system is that it is quite bass-y.
Can anyone help? Thanks in advance

I have beats and I'd say it's ok once you've got the bass mid trebble setting to your liking, it will not blow your mind though! Haven't heard the normal one so can't compare. Generally good for rock music not sure how it would be on more refined listening. Consider though that there's no way you can have a spare tyre with beats as the sub and amp fill the wheel well

I had a couple of brand new 500s as courtesy cars while the wife’s 500x was in for some work. One had the stereo with the standard small screen 5” head unit and it is abysmal. Only has four speakers, all in the front. Tinny, nasty, horrible . One had upgrade 7” screen head unit and is far better as it comes with six speakers. I’d say you’d at least want that one

I have a 500s, which has the 7" uConnect stereo with (I think) just the same six-speaker system they all have as standard. It's good enough - not stunning but not intolerably rubbish.
The 500 is a fairly unrefined car with plenty of buzzing, road noise, wind noise, etc. so for me I'm not sure it'd be worth upgrading the stereo - I don't think it's an environment where you'd get the best out of it.
That said, if I listen to the radio it's usually Radio 4 and when I listen to music it's mostly 80's / 90's punk which is so badly recorded it couldn't sound good anyway.
